Code of Conduct: Parents & Guardians
Sheffield Workshop are extremely fortunate to have many inspiring and friendly families who support our programme. We recognise that every parent and carer have a collective responsibility and a part to play in setting a good example and providing a safe and positive environment in which children can learn and enjoy gymnastics. Remember that your child/children participate in sport for their enjoyment, not yours.

Focus on your child’s/children’s efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.

Parents/carers shall instil confidence in their child/children’s ability and skill development, always avoiding comparisons with other gymnasts.

Parents/carers shall abide by the rules, policies, and procedures of Sheffield Workshop and British Gymnastics.

Encourage your child/children to always participate within the rules and to settle disagreements without resorting to hostility and violence.

Respect and celebrate difference in our club and treat all members fairly.

Respect the decisions of judges and coaches/instructors.

The use of offensive, discriminatory or obscene language or gestures will not be tolerated.

Do not smoke, consume alcohol or other drugs whilst on the premises.

Ensure your child arrives to sessions on time and is picked up promptly.

Inform us if you are running late to collect your child or if your child is going home with someone else.

Ensure your child is appropriately dressed for their session in line with our dress guideline.

Ensure your child is fit and well to participate in gymnastics activity

Complete all consent, contact forms, and update us straight away if anything changes.

Ensure payments of training fees, competition fees & annual insurance are paid on time.

Raise concerns or complaints through the appropriate channels
Photography & Online Activity

Parents/guardians should refer to the photography policy before taking any photos or videos.

Parents/Carers should only take photographs of their own children. Inclusion of other children should not be taken without the prior agreement of the child’s/children’s parents/carers.

Ensure any photographs/videos taken are for personal and family use only and must not be placed in the public domain.

The use of flash photography in the gym is not permitted.

Agree not to send abusive or threatening emails, texts, voicemails, or other written communications (including social media) to anyone within or associated with Sheffield Workshop.

Not to use defamatory, offensive, or derogatory comments regarding the Sheffield Workshop or any of the gymnasts/parents/coach/instructor or staff within the programme on Facebook or other social media sites
Car park

Ensure your child is kept with you at all times when leaving our premises into the car park

Ensure that there is no loitering in the car park for your child’s safety.
